Dawayat Cavern

- Dawayat cavern is about 2Km to the northeast of mashta Helou

It's considered one of the most ancient discovered cavern all over Syria if it's not the only one

- It's called "Dawayat" because it has seven openings in its ceiling. These openings or holes lighten the cavern's first hall

Hundred years ago, Dawayat was used as a shelter from Ottoman & French occupation forces.

But, now it is one of the most important tourist places in Syria.

It extends number of kilometers underground. What really distinguish Dawayat is its wonderful stalactites & stalagmites which are formed by nature.
